Iā€™m Audrey, a board-certified music therapist and songwriter based in Richmond, Virginia.

I received a bachelors in music therapy and cello performance certificate from Shenandoah Conservatory in 2019, and completed the Neurologic Music Therapy training through the University of Toronto in December 2022. In January 2024 I became a Certified Dementia Practitioner through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. Since then, I have been working in the field developing my own style and approach. I have worked with older adults in hospice and memory care, in music education, and inpatient physical rehabilitation in group and individual settings. I have grown to find a certain passion for a holistic approach to end of life care.

My approach to music therapy is rooted in both evidence based knowledge of how music affects the brain and body, and the understanding that we all have a deeply personal and spiritual connection to music. Using a combination of research backed music interventions and an empathetic social/emotional and community therapy approach, I affirm the whole person.

In addition to music therapy, I have 15 years of experience writing and performing original and cover music in groups and independently. My studies and work experience have given me opportunities to learn from esteemed musicians ranging from international orchestras to local folk bands.

I found songwriting as a teenager, and it quickly became a passion and tool for my own self-expression and emotional support. I have since been writing songs for myself, for others, and with groups. I have appeared on my own indie folk albums with bands Moe & Tom and River City Sirens as a singer and multi-instrumentalist. I have been featured on recordings locally and internationally, including Dear Cecilia, with genres ranging from folk, to country, to pop.

I now work as an independent songwriter as a solo artist, as well as creating personalized music for others. Click below to learn more about ordering commissioned original music!
